If you are planning to drive when you arrive in New Zealand, then you will need to bring with you an international drivers permit or your drivers licence that is valid in your home country. On the basis that you have one of the two, you can drive for a maximum of 12 months from the date you arrived in New Zealand. Remember that you must carry your licence with you at all times in New Zealand otherwise you could be fined a heavy charge by the police. You will also need to familiarise yourself with the New Zealand road rules regulations which is very important for your safety and for others.
