Auckland Airport is expanding its Arrival facilities by building a new runway. It is expected to be finished by earliest 2011 in time for New Zealand’s hosting of the Rugby World Cup in 2011.
Auckland airport offers a range of parking options to suits everyone’s needs. There are car parks in front of the domestic and international terminals including Pick-up and Drop-off parking. There is a secure un-covered and covered long-term car park available which is located using the left-hand side of Ray Emery Drive after passing the front of the International terminal, bus bay and heliport, less than 5 minutes walk to the international terminal. Parking is also available for Motorbikes, Bicycles and Campervans.
Transfer between Terminals
A free bus service is available linking the Jean Batten International Terminal and the Air New Zealand and Qantas domestic terminals. The bus service is available from 6.00am to 10:30pm everyday. The terminals are also walking distance.
Auckland Airport Passengers can easily book, pick up or drop off a rental vehicle at the international terminal. Rental Companies with desks inside the terminals include Avis, Budget, Ezy, Hertz and Thrifty. Recreational Vehicles (RV) are available from Maui. They are located at 36 Richard Pearse Drive Mangere ACE Rental and ARF Rental offices are located on Manu Tapu Drive. Complimentary transfers are provided by rental companies between branch & airport, please check with the branch concerned.
Bus Service: Airbus Express provides a bus service between the airport and city centre every 15 minutes. Reservations are not required and tickets can be purchased from the driver. Taxi: Taxi services are available outside the international and domestic terminals for all arriving and departing flights. Taxi ranks are situated to the west of the International Terminal and in front of the Air New Zealand and Qantas Domestic Terminals. The taxi fare from Auckland City to the airport is approximately NZ$50.00 – NZ$65.00
Shuttle buses: Shuttle bus services are also available from the bus shuttle rank outside the International Terminal. They are also available outside the Air New Zealand and Qantas domestic terminals. Information and Help Desks
The Visitors Information Centre is situated on the ground floor of the Arrivals lobby in the International Terminal and in the Domestic Terminal. Blue Coat ambassadors are also on hand to provide passenger support from help desks throughout the terminals. Call (09) 275 6467 for more information.
Money: Banks with bureau de change facilities as well as Currency Exchange offices are located throughout the International Terminal. ATMs can be found throughout the airport.
Communication:Auckland Airport has wireless hotspots at various locations inside the international and domestic terminals. With the wireless network available this means you can email, go on the internet or access your company’s intranet easily using a handheld computer,Wi-fi mobile or laptop.
Internet kiosks and mobile phone hire are also available throughout the airport building.
Eating and drinking: There are various restaurants, cafés and bars at the airport, including the Jean Batten Food Court and McDonald’s situated on the first floor, with a number of speciality Food and Beverages places, among them are Cafe Espresso, Asian cuisine and a Hayama Sushi Bar.
Airport Shopping: There are over 75 shops situated throughout the airport, including duty-free, Electronics and Footwear.
Luggage: Left luggage services are obtainable at the Visitor Information Centre, contact (09) 275 6467. Lost property services are also accessible and can be contacted on (09) 256 8813.
Doctors: There is a Doctors Surgery located at John Goulter Drive providing full medical and healthcare services. The Airport pharmacy is next door.
There are two conference rooms on the last floor of the International Terminal and three additional rooms inside the Domestic Terminal near the Air New Zealand counters. Laptop connections are also accessible in the lounges, and Wireless Internet access is also available at many locations.
Facilities for children
There is a range of activities for children in and around the airport. These include Adventure mini-golf, Airspace entertainment centre, Butterfly Creek, Children’s playgrounds and much more.
Facilities for Disabled Travellers
Facilities include automatic doors and lifts, wheelchair assistance in the International Terminal, wheelchair-accessible drinking fountains, wheelchair -accessible toilets and showers, as well as Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) with Braille keys. There are also disabled parking spaces in front of the terminals and in the airport car parks. Passengers that need wheelchairs and special help must inform their airline prior to travel.
