You don’t have to travel far from Auckland City to enjoy Auckland’s spectacular shores. Mission Bay is only 10 minutes drive from Auckland City and there are many things to do. Not only will you find busy cafes, but also some of the most excellent restaurants and bars Auckland has to offer. You will be spoilt for places to dine with a variety of different cuisines to choose from including Italian, Thai, Turkish, and Indian. Or perhaps you will want to indulge yourself with ice-cream from Movenpick.

Mission Bay’s impressive beach, the boulevard and parks are ideal for activities such as rollerblading, volleyball, jogging, walking, soccer, frisbee tossing and a variety of other sports. The beach is safe for swimming, sailing and kayaking. You can hire Kayaks, Rollerblades and other equipment from mission Bay during summer.

Mission Bay is very much like a local sea side resort and it’s a great place to wine and dine on a Friday and Saturday night or simply enjoy a coffee, drink or meal with friends and family.

There’s also a superb fountain which is lit up at night which provides a romantic setting for that picnic spot on a nice summers evening.

It’s easy to get to from the city. If you’re driving by car then 15 minutes is all it takes. Drive downtown to Quay St, turn right and follow the superb Tamaki Drive along the coast.

If you’re coming by bus you can take the regular service from Britomart Station on lower Queen St, Downtown Auckland, route 746-769. You can go to http://www.rideline.co.nz for further details or alternatively you can catch the Auckland Explorer Bus. Visit http://www.explorerbus.co.nz for more information.
