About Hamilton Airport
Hamilton airport is the fourth largest airport in New Zealand and offers both international and domestic flights. The international terminal was opened by Helen Clarke in December 2006. It cost 15.5 million to upgrade and refurbish.

Car Parking
There is both short term and long term parking outside Hamilton International main terminal. It is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Short Term carpark
Parking is free for the first 30 minutes and after that charges apply. Parking 30 minutes to 1 hour is $3.00, with an hourly charge of NZ$3.00 after that.

Long Term
Advanced booking is not required, just turn up on the day you are due to depart. You will be issued a ticked at the entry barrier of the carpark. Take this ticket with you and when you return simply take this ticket to a pay station and pay the parking charges.
Parking per day will cost $20.00.
The carpark does have security cameras and is well lit at night.

Car Hire
Hamilton Airport Passengers can easily book, pick up or drop off a rental vehicle at the Hamilton International Terminal. Rental Companies with desks inside the terminals include Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar and Thrifty.

Public Transport

Airport Shuttle
Shuttle services are available with prices around $17 for one person and $22 for two. Discounts may be available if you are travelling with more than two people. Shuttle buses are shared with other passengers and are a convenient and cheaper way to travel.

Taxi
Taxi is usually more expensive and can cost around $40 to $50. If you are travelling by taxi then allow plenty of time to reach the airport. The drive between the airport and city centre can take up to 40 minutes during peak hours.

Airport Facilities

Money: Foreign exchange into Australian, Fijian and New Zealand dollars is available at the airport. ATMs can be found throughout the airport.

Eating and drinking: Hamilton Airport offers a café and bar that overlooks the runway located on the firstst floor of both the international and domestic terminal. Vending machines are also available.

Airport Shopping: There are two duty free stores inside the airport offering a large range of duty/tax-free shopping and souvenirs.

Other facilities include wheelchair access, baby changing facilities, Koru Lounge where you can sit and relax and read a newspaper or magazine and enjoy some light refreshment. Administrative facilities are also available such as a PC, printer, photocopier and fax machine.

Hotels
There is a range of accommodation in Hamilton however if your looking for somewhere near the airport then you can try the Hamilton Airport Motor Inn that is situated on the airport site, just a short walk from the terminal building.
