There is superb fishing here too. You can expereicne Rock-fishing (from the rocks at either end of the bay) or surfcasting. A surfcasting rod can be hired from the office at $5 per day. Snorkelling is popular around the rocks.

The Rock Pools at both ends of the beach are worth exploring too as they are packed with crabs, small fish and exciting seashells, the kids will love it.

To get to Tauranga Bay from Auckland, follow State Highway 1 past Whangarei, going towards KeriKeri. Follow State Highway 10 north out of KeriKeri to reach Kaeo.
