  1. I am just wondering why the best rating agencies here in NZ are called Metro – which is a Jetsetter or Lifestyle magazine and not Guide Michelin or Gault et Millau. How could these people give an honest opinion? In Europe, these Appraisers people are well trained and come unannounced and wine and dine and then you get a rating. They are some of the finest experts in the world.

I think there might only be 1 or 2 NZ restaurants who would be able to secure a 1 Star in the Guide Michelin or 16/10 in the Gault et Millau and one of them would be the French Cafe! Just some food for thought!

Now Paul did dine in some of the finest restaurants across Europe.

  2. Paul, would be interesting to know which top Auckland restaurants you’ve dined at, in forming your view that only one or two would even get one Michelin star?
