Mount Lyford is a 2hrs drive from Christchurch. 2WD may need chains fitted. Mt Lyford has a good balance of terrain for all abilities including a lot of natural hits for snowboarders and freeriders and a large variety of learner and intermediate terrain.
Some of the facilities offered here include equipment hire, snowsports school offering group and private lessons, cafe, tubing area, shuttle service, on site accommodation, Terrain Park, half pipe, jumps, rails and groomed slopes.
This is an ideal family destination that offers uncrowded slopes and no lift queues. The season duration is early June to mid-October.
A great place to dine is the Terako Day Lodge Café which has excellent mountain views.
