Queenstown is located 487 kms south of Christchurch (approx 7 hours drive) or 55 minute domestic flight from Christchurch. There are two ski resorts in Queenstown, the Coronet Peak and the Remarkables.

The Coronet Peak

Seasons run approx mid June to early October, opening from 9am – 4pm. The 2006 winter season at Coronet Peak Ski Resort closed on Monday October 2nd 2006, after opening on June 15. Coronet Peak is balanced with variety from beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes to 2 snowboard half-pipes and terrain park. There’s something for everyone, you can even try out the new 6 seater express chairlift and what’s more there is night skiing on Friday and Saturday’s 4pm – 9pm, mid July to mid September. Childen 6 years and under will receive a free lift pass. A regular shuttle service also runs from Queenstown.

The Remarkables

The Remarkables is ideal for families and beginners and is regarded as the best place to learn to ski for both adults and children. It also has the most tremendous terrain in NZ with breath-taking views in a sunny location. You will find child minding facilities and a licenced creche so parents can enjoy their time on the snow. Children 10 years and under receive a free lift pass and if yor a beginner then you may want to try out the magic carpet lift.
