Treble Cone is the biggest ski area in the South Island of New Zealand and is the winner of the Peoples Choice New Zealand Ski Area Service Award 2006. It has the highest vertical drop in South Island at 700 metres and stunning views across over Lake Wanaka and Mt Aspiring.
Treble Cone continues to keep improving its facilities for instance, in 2008 there were major developments to improve trails in the Saddle Basin as well as new snow guns and snow fencing. In addition there is a new program for beginners boarders called Burton Learn to Ride.
A 6 seater express chairlift is the main lift riding people from the base area to ski the big cruises of the main bowl.
Skiers and boarders can enjoy plenty of exciting groomed terrain, including four popular runs: Easy Rider, Skite, Main Street and Rafills Run. The beginners area is a wide, gentle slope serviced by the Nice ‘n Easy platter lift and a magic carpet. There are also plenty of trails to challenge the more expert skiers and boarders.
For kids there is a junior ski school with a good program. In addition there is childcare facilities offering a supervised indoor facility for kids three years and over.
There is daily return shuttl services from Wanaka and Queenstown.
