Tukino Ski Area

Ski Resort

Tukino ski field is on the eastern side of Mt Ruapehu and is accessible by 4WD from the Desert Road. Tukino is a small club-run field which operates rope tows only.

Tukino offers the only one of its kind blend of exciting activity without the crowds and a very family friendly atmosphere. It’s a great place for skiers and snowboarder plus its sheltered from current winds, which means even on a cloudy day the fields are still clear.

For information on prices for passes and hire, check out the comparison of the Ski Areas in New Zealand.

Facilities offered here include many beginner and intermediate slopes, ski and snowboard lessons. Unfortunately there are no half pipes, terrain park, cafes or bars.

There are a total of two lifts on the mountain operating nutcracker rope tows only.

The field is 35% Beginner, 30% Intermediate and 35% Advanced.

Ski & accommodation packages are available with On Field Accommodation. There are 2 modern lodges in Tukino Village.
