Christmas is here and you won’t want to miss the Santa’s Workshop at Capital E. The event will begin on 1st December through till 24th December. Come along and join Santa’s Elves in the morning for entertainment shows by their favorite comedian, like Zappo and Zappolina and story teller Stu Duvall. In the afternoons you can help the Elves to finish all the Christmas gifts in time. If your wondering where Santa will be himself well do not worry, Father Christmas will be visiting Capital E, everyday between 12-4pm where you will get a chance to personally meet and greet him. There will be lots to get creative with including Christmas Tree Decorations, Gift Baskets, Badges and Christmas Card Creations.

Bach Christmas Oratorio

Stephen Rowley is the newly appointed Choir Director of the Bach Choir who will be conducting his first major performance of JS Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with choir.

The Christmas Oratorio, is an oratorio that is only really meant for performance in church during the Christmas period. It was written for the Christmas period of 1734 integrating music from previous pieces of music.

The Christmas Oratorio is a predominantly stylish example of the lampoon technique.

The concert will take place in the newly refurbished Saint Andrews on the Terrace.

The Big Carol Sing

The Big Carol Sing is a chance for the people of Wellington to come together at the Town Hall and sing all the best-known Christmas Carols in a traditional Christmas celebration. Special guest for the night will be YULIA who is lending her voice to share the spirit of giving this Christmas and is very excited to be working with Salvation Army to bring together families in the spirit of Christmas.

The Dominion Post will publish words to the carols in the week prior to the event.

If your in Wellington this year then you might want to welcome in 2007 with the Rhythm and Beats festivities at Civic Square. The 2006 gig will attract over 8,000 people enjoying themselves, dancing and partying with a number of Wellington’s most lively bands, dance groups and visual performers.
Rhythm and Beats is a free event that?s open to the public including parents with children. The kids will enjoy their own countdown at 9pm with performeances suitable for their ages including entertainment, face painting and heaps more.
